Welcome to Perthshire Big Tree Country

Perthshire has some of the most remarkable trees, woodlands and country gardens in Europe and is the place to be during Year of Natural Scotland.

Just a short trip can take you to Europe's oldest tree, the world's highest hedge, the sole survivor from Shakespeare's 'Birnam Wood' ... and it doesn’t stop there. During Year of Natural Scotland Perthshire has a whole host of events for you to enjoy throughout the year.

Use the map on the right to find your way around Big Tree Country and discover why the area is more than just big and famous trees.

Find out why Big Tree Country is the centre of a global rescue operation ... iCONic is just one of the new and exciting projects taking place in the area. The 'Supporting Big Tree Country Scheme' in operation at The Gleneagles Hotel is helping this and other projects.

We have long inspired artists, photographers, poets and writers. Not least of these is Magnus Jackson, local to Perth and pioneer in the art of landscape photography. His stunning images can be found in the Magnus Jackson Gallery, the only online gallery to feature such a collection of his work.

Whatever you choose to do be sure to make the most of Big Tree Country in all its glory.
