Many of the trees in this forest are between 100 and 200 years old.
A network of old estate paths lead round the small but picturesque Loch Dunmore with its timber bridge and boat house.
The short walk around Loch Dunmore is particularly scenic and has recently been updated to Access for All standards through the Heritage & Access Project.
Faskally House became a training school for foresters during the 1950s and this wood provided a testing area for numerous woodland management techniques.
Come and see the forest in spring when the trees are in bud, or in autumn when reflections fill the loch with shimmering colour.
Faskally also plays host to The Enchanted Forest, an amazing light extravaganza that takes place each year in late October/ early November.

Easy-going walks from 0.75 miles/ 1 km to 1.5 miles/ 2.5 km.
A way-marked trail from Pitlochry to Killiecrankie passes through the wood. It is part of a longer circular walk of 11.5 miles/ 18.5 km that crosses both the River Garry and the Tummel.
Location
1 mile / 1.5 km north of Pitlochry, on the western side of the A9 along the B8019.
Public transport & other facilities
Take the bus from Pitlochry.
Good car parking with designated disabled parking to the northern end of the site.
Toilets including disabled toilets are provided on site whilst refreshments can be obtained in nearby Pitlochry.
